Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?
Yes! Paws for Adventure LLC is licensed by the State of Washington and the Cities of Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, Rochester, and Shelton. Paws for Adventure LLC is insured with Pet Sitters Associates, LLC which includes broadened property damage coverage and bond. Proof of insurance can be provided upon request. Additionally, I conduct a national background check annually and am happy to show you a copy upon request.
  • Are you First Aid certified?
YES! I am certified in both Pet CPR & First Aid and Canine Wilderness Emergency First Aid. Pet First Aid certification is just as important as insurance and it is essential that I (and all pet care providers) maintain current Pet First Aid certification through a proper and legitimate company. I am proud to say I retain my certification through Pet Emergency Academy and am happy to provide copies upon request.
  • What types of custom services has Paws For Adventure provided?
You and your family are all individuals! You all have different personalities, needs, and passions. That is why I work with you to customize services to create the best fit. I also know that interesting situations and needs arise and someone may not have even realized that they COULD ask for that service. Never be afraid to ask! Listed below are just some of the custom service requests made: Basic Training Services Hotel Stays with a Pet Pet Boarding Check-Ins Ornament/Card Making Pet Travel Dog Party Supervisor/Helper Weddings Basic Training Services: Are you working on basic commands with your pet but need some extra help? Easy! Just let me know what words, hand singles, and rewards you are using, and your pet and I can have a visit dedicated to working on these commands. I suggest booking regular visits to further reinforce these new skills. Hotel Stays with a Pet: Are you, family, or a friend visiting with a pet but can't bring them everywhere with you? I am happy to stop by your hotel, Airbnb, or RV to give some love, take your pet for a walk, and refresh water and food. Pet Boarding Check-Ins: Have you boarded your pet but want to make sure they have more individulized attention? If allowable by who you board with, I can visit your pet and give them all of the loving attention they need. I am also happy to take them for a walk, to a park, or any other activity you would like. Ornament/Card Making: Yes, this has come up several times during my years of pet care. I come to drop off Whiskers and the owner is in a mild frenzy just weeks before a holiday. They meant to complete the paw print ornaments or cards for friends but time is never our friend during the holiday season. Don't worry, I can help with that! Just leave me the project, an example of what you would like, how many are needed, and Whiskers and I will lend a helping paw! Pet Travel: Pet Travel is a bit different than Taxi services. Taxi services usually take between an hour to three hours and pets are usually dropped off at an appointment or returned home. Pet Travel is when you need someone to transport your pet long distance and may take an entire day to multiple days. For example, if you are moving to Oregon but left your pet at a boarding facility so you could set up ahead of time, and now would like someone to drive them to your new home. I can do that! Or maybe you need your pet to fly to Colorado but could not get the time off. I am happy to fly with them and insure they are as happy as possible on the flight as well as insure they are safely taken to your destination. Dog Party Supervisor/Helper: Are you throwing Fluffy a dog party and need extra eyes, ears, and hands? I'm here to help! While pet owners at these parties should always be aware of their own pet, I am here to provide extra support so that your guests can relax and enjoy the festivities. I am also Pet CPR and First Aid certified in the case of an accident or emergency. Other services during the parties are assistance with creating a safe environment, insuring water is always available, individual pet check-ins throughout the event, and assistance with dog activities. Weddings: Yes, I said weddings! Many wish they could have their pet at their wedding but lack a dedicated person to make sure their pet is happy, fed, watered, dressed up, and ready to participate in the wedding. While it can be fun to be surrounded by people, it can also be overwhelming, this is why a dedicated person to watch your pet is key. We can take walk breaks and rest time in a quiet place to recenter before rejoining the festivities. I am also here to make sure your specific guidelines of care are followed. While relatives and friends can be well-meaning, they can get distracted, wrapped up in the festivities, and forget that Fluffy can't eat chicken off a plate or that men with beards can be frightening. My only job is to focus on the well-being and happiness of your pet. Wedding locations include local, surrounding areas, and most destination weddings. Whether you need support day of, over the weekend, or longer, I am happy to help.
  • Do you walk pets other than dogs?
Yes! I have walked dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, rats, a Macaw, pigs, and goats. As long as your pet(s) is comfortable on a leash and has experience going on a walk, I will happily walk your pet! If you would like help leash training your pet, just let me know! (Please note that not all pets can or should be walked on a leash)
  • Can you walk my pet off-leash?
Due to liability reasons, leash laws, and local ordinances, Clients pet(s) will never be let off leash for any reason, except for a medical emergency or if in a secured fenced area such as a dog park or Client’s fenced yard. Other than being law, this keeps your pet and our community safe as well as respects those community members that may have fear or trauma regarding off-leash pets. Thank you for your understanding.
  • What type of animals do you care for?
Paws for Adventure cares for a wide variety of amazing pets including cats, dogs, fish, birds, rabbits, small furry animals (hamsters, mice, rats, ferrets, etc), chickens, goats, and turtles. Unfortunately, Paws for Adventure does not care for some reptiles, specifically snakes, and does not care for any pet that is a danger to me, others, or itself due to aggressive behavior or poisonous nature (some scorpions, frogs, and snakes). Paws for Adventure does not care for any illegally owned pet as defined by the State of Washington.
  • Do you require our dog/cat to be spayed or neutered?
Not at all! I have many clients who have unaltered pets and I am happy to provide services for them. The only exception is for Dog Park Adventures and Adventure Hikes. If you have a female dog currently in heat, these services will need to be scheduled after she is no longer in heat.
  • What is your Service Area?
Wherever adventure is! Paws for Adventure is located out of Olympia but also proudly serves Tumwater, Lacey, Rochester, and Shelton! Please see the Service Area page for more information and possible service area fees.
  • Do you offer services outside of Office Hours?
Yes! Early morning, late evening and weekend appointments are available. These appointment times are limited due to Overnight Pet Sitting services that are scheduled during these times.
  • How do I get started?
Easy! Through the Service & Rates page you can Request to Book a Meet & Greet. Complete the form and I will reach out to gather some information and schedule! Email me directly at info@pawsforadventurellc.com Reach out via Facebook or Instagram Text me at (360) 401-5312
  • Are we required to have a Meet & Greet to request services?
While I highly suggest that you schedule a Meet & Greet, it is not required for most services. The free Meet & Greet helps me get to know your pet(s) and family in a safe and secure environment. We will also review important information such as behaviors, medical needs/limitations, and likes/dislikes. This is also the time where you get to know me which is equally important! We all want to make sure that this is a wonderful fit. Adventure Walks and Dog Park Adventures do require an initial Meet & Greet due to the nature of the activity. Please note that generally keys are collected during the Meet & Greet. If you decide not to schedule one, other arrangements will need to be made (see Key Handling Form).
  • What forms of payment are accepted?
Credit/Debit cards, Venmo, checks, and cash. If you choose to pay by cash or check, please be sure to leave the payment in a predetermined location prior to the start of service. Checks can be made out to "Paws For Adventure LLC"
  • I would like to tip Paws for Adventure! How do I leave gratuity?
Gratuity is not expected but is always greatly appreciated. If you would like to leave a tip, you are welcome to leave a check or cash, request a tip through an invoice, or through Venmo @pawsforadventure. Gratuity isn't always monetary, a review on our Google page is greatly appreciated as well!
  • How do you access my home? Are my keys safe?
Paws for Adventure provides you with multiple options when picking up and dropping off your keys. Key Pick Up: Two (2) keys are generally provided during the Meet & Greet. If you only have a single key, I am happy to make a copy for a small fee. For clients who prefer that I pick up and drop off their keys before and/or after each visit, a $10 fee will be applied per pick up and per drop off. There is also an option to leave a "hide-a-key" or for you to set up a lockbox, providing Paws for Adventure with the code. Key Return: Keys will be returned to you at the end of a service per your instructions or kept on file for future services. Paws for Adventure prefers to keep your keys on file when possible as this helps me easily provide future visits, cuts down on key Pick Up/Drop Off fees, and are helpful in case of emergency. Clients who choose to keep keys on file also have the opportunity to use Paws For Adventures’ Lock-Out service. Please note that if you choose to have your keys locked inside of your home at the end of the visit and your return time becomes delayed, requiring additional visits with your pet(s), I will first attempt to contact your emergency contact but may need to contact a locksmith to access your home. After, you will be invoiced for the cost of the locksmith. Key storage: Key safety is extremely important to me and I take every precaution possible when handling your keys. One key will be with me during days of scheduled services and the other will be kept in a safe/lock box. When your key is not in use, both keys will be securely stored in a safe/lock box randomly coded. Why are two keys requested? Safety! Keeping a second key insures that in an emergency, Paws for Adventure has a second key to access your home. If lock out services are requested, I will be able to leave the spare key with you while keeping the primary key to continue services. For detailed information, please refer to the Key Handling Form or contact me with any questions.

There is no greater compliment! To show how much I appreciate you, Paws for Adventure is happy to offer a 10% discount on a single service when you refer a new client and they book a service. • What happens if my pet becomes ill or injured while I am away?
This is one of the scariest questions pet parents can ask themselves when leaving their pet(s) with a sitter. Ensuring the health and safety of your pet is my primary goal. During our visits, I focus on identifying any signs of illness and injury before an emergency situation occurs. In the instance that your beloved pet becomes ill or injured, and after assessing their condition (ensuring that they are stable), I will make every effort to contact you immediately. If I cannot reach you or your emergency contact, I will follow all instructions you provide on the Emergency Vet Release Form.
  • Are there any charges for more than one pet?
Overnight Pet Sittings do not have any additional pet fees. When I care for your home, I care for the entire pet family! For Adventure Hikes, Walks, and Dog Park Adventures, there is a $16 fee for each additional dog (or cat!).
